01.02.2011
31.01.2011 having my company annual dinner& last day of work is 01.02.2011. So as usually on the 01 February wake up 6.30pm prepare to work but after i urine going to bath something starting to leak out ....oh my water bag break....faster go tell hubby but he say where got so fast Ur EDD 01.03.2011 right now only 01.02.2011, 1mth early? The water cant stop leaking & start having blood, make me more worry , Hubby saw the blood also start to worry . But i tell he don't worry go wash up & i go for a bath before going down to hospital. on the way to hospital something pop through my mind, oh no i going to have a tiger baby not rabbit anymore... hubby say u still got time to think this type of thing. We reached Thomson Hospital around 8am, start feeling excited & scare, my little tenant is moving out from the comfort zone soon. At the same time no more CNY for me :( Hubby went to settle all paper document & I'm laying on the bed at the delivery suites waiting for Dr Wong. I never feel any sign of pain & contractions yet.
i hate this...is so painful
Hubby is also waiting for the little tenant(Ashley) to move out from the comfort zone. I start to worry cos Ashley only 36weeks is premature(Babies between 37 and 42 weeks are considered full-term - a baby born before 37 weeks is premature and after 42 is post-term.), his lungs may not fully developed. But no time to think so much wait till Dr Wong reach then say.
9am
nurse midwife check my contractions and ask me what has happened so far:
- Have you had a show (a brownish or blood-tinged mucus discharge)?
- Have your waters broken?
- What colour were they?
- Have contractions started?
- How frequent are they?
- How many weeks pregnant are you?
- Have you had any problems in your pregnancy?
Next she'll check mine:
- blood pressure
- temperature
- pulse
- urine
so hunger haven eat breakfast, so nurse give me fish porridge..yummy
9.30am
Finally Dr Wong reach! He check for me & cervix opens to 3cm, have to wait till 10cm then can give birth& check is baby in posterior position. still haven feel any pain & contraction yet only cramping feeling (a bit like period pains)
11.30am
the cramp feeling is getting stronger & stronger or is this contractions? now cervix open to 4cm.
1.30pm
seeing Dr Wong again, check again cervix open to 5cm. getting more pain & cramp. I ask Dr Wong around what time will give birth , he say 9.30pm. after hearing that i going crazy. keep telling myself no to take epidurals but cant stand so i take entonox (gas & air).
2pm
the nurse midwife inject something in to make my cervix open faster
2.30pm
contractions gradually become longer, stronger and closer together, and i start experiencing painful contractions that are about 4 to 5 minutes apart and last up to 60 seconds. This is killing me ! i really feel like taking epidurals but hubby keep on telling no no no...
3pm
cervix open to 8cm.
3.30pm
cervix finally open to 9cm. prepare to give birth.Baby is pushed further into the pelvis, it exerts pressure on the bladder and the back passage. The cervix is fully drawn up there is an overwhelming urge to push.
4pm
Dr Wong come in, other 3 injection around cervix area. And now is the time pushing baby out! My body keep telling me to push (in fact the urge will probably be overwhelming & pretty difficult to resist). The pain is killing me! After 30 mins of pushing hubby finally saw Ashley hair & i continue push for other 10-20mins Ashley finally is out. After Ashley is out nurse help he do all kind of check up.
I feel a bit odd that I still got another stage of labour to go after your baby has been born! Delivering the placenta. Finally everything is over! Luckily hubby is presence during labour, he is certainly the best medical for me. He helps me answering questions on behalf during my labour as I in no state to think about anything except the task at hand. Nurse return Ashley to mummy after all kind of check up. My first hug of my precious.
